“Today, the Government has provided further details on its commitment to increasing funding for local government services. After 14 years of decline, this investment is absolutely vital to restoring the services our communities rely on.

“As a former council leader, I know first-hand how critical this funding is for supporting public services and ensuring we can deliver for you. The Government’s plans include an additional £2 billion for local authorities across the country. For Telford & Wrekin Council, this means an increase of £14.8 million in core spending power—an 8.1% boost that will make a real difference to our local services.

“This is a welcome first step. Over the last 14 years, Telford has lost over £100 million per year from Westminster. This funding represents a first down payment towards returning much-needed resources to our community. But we cannot stop here.
“I am committed to working tirelessly over the coming months to secure even more support for Telford & Wrekin Council. Our residents deserve nothing less, and I will continue to fight for the funding needed to rebuild and enhance the services we all depend on.”
