Remaining Easter Egg Donations Delivered

Young Carers

The final Easter egg donations from this year’s appeal, led by Shaun Davies MP, have now been delivered to local children and young people across Telford.

The last Easter eggs, collected as a part of Shaun’s Easter Egg Appeal have been distributed to the Women’s and Children’s Unit at Princess Royal Hospital and to young carers supported by Telford & Wrekin CVS.  These deliveries mark the end of this year’s Easter Egg Appeal, which has seen donations more than double compared to last year thanks to overwhelming support from right across Telford.

Jo Williams, CEO of Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Community and Hospitals NHS Group said:  “I want to thank Shaun Davies MP and the people of Telford for their generous donation of more than 400 Easter eggs for the Children’s Ward at the Princess Royal Hospital. Your kindness has made a real difference to the children and families who are with us over Easter. This has clearly been a true community effort, and we are very grateful for your continued support.”

Shaun Davies MP said: “I started this appeal last year because sometimes the smallest gestures can make the biggest difference. Every child deserves to feel special, and a simple act of kindness like this shows them that someone is thinking of them. I’m told by the teams delivering these eggs that the children get incredibly excited and that’s exactly why we do this.”

This year’s appeal has truly been a community-wide effort. Local businesses of all sizes took part, from major employers to independent high street shops. Contributions came from organisations including Housing Plus Group, GN Groundworks, RBSL, Tesco in Madeley, Sainsbury’s Telford, TCMR Radio, Sweetcheeks in Dawley, Dawley Social Club, Outpost Café in Oakengates, Coforge, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service and Dharm Shropshire CIC.

Thanks to the scale of donations this year it meant that the appeal has been able to reach even more children including those in hospital care during the Easter period and young carers who provide vital support.

Shaun added: “This simply wouldn’t have been possible without the kindness and generosity of people across Telford. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who donated, supported and helped to raise awareness of this appeal – next year we will go bigger and better! Thank you, Telford.”
