Shaun Davies MP Presents £14,000 to Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal Following Successful World Cup Sweepstake
Shaun Davies MP has presented a cheque for £14,000 to the Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal, following the success of his 2026 World Cup Sweepstake fundraising initiative.
The community fundraising effort brought together 48 businesses from across Telford, all of whom signed up to be randomly allocated a team in this summer’s World Cup competition. The initiative was further supported by Shropshire Printing, which generously sponsored the printing materials for the sweepstake.
Funds raised through the competition were significantly boosted thanks to match funding from Telford & Wrekin Council, helping to increase the overall donation to £14,000 for the local cancer charity.
The sweepstake also included prizes for the top-performing teams. Box of Goodness were crowned champions and received a £200 team voucher for The Brewery Inn.
European Innovation came second place, they joined the cheque handover to collect their prize which was a bottle of gin kindly donated by Moonshine & Fuggles who are based just in Ironbridge!
Shaun said: “I am delighted that our World Cup Sweepstake has raised £14,000 for the Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal. This fantastic total would not have been possible without the support of the 48 local businesses that took part, the generosity of Shropshire Printing, and the match funding provided by Telford & Wrekin Council. It is a great example of our local community coming together to support an incredible charity that makes such a difference to people and families across our area.”
