April Update – Standing Up for Telford

VE Day branded (Facebook Post) (2)

As April comes to a close and we step into May, I want to update you on what I’ve been working on—both here in Telford and down in Westminster. My mission is simple: to make sure your voice is heard loud and clear where it matters most.

  • I held two resident events, giving people the chance to speak to me directly, raise concerns, and connect with local partners. Your input is essential, and I’ll keep showing up to listen.
  • I was proud to help a local Armed Forces family meet with a Government Minister to share their personal experiences—helping to shape better support and real change.
  • We brought dads together to campaign for better paternity leave, and marked it with a fantastic free family day at Exotic Zoo. A brilliant turnout and an important cause that deserves more national attention.
  • From Telford College to local housebuilders and Shropshire Fire and Rescue, I’ve been out meeting the people shaping our community—listening to what matters most and how I can help.
  • More than 500 people got in touch with issues ranging from housing and education to crime and justice. I’ve been working hard to support every single one—and I’ll keep pushing for answers on your behalf.
  • Local healthcare remains a top priority. I’ve continued to raise your concerns directly and press for improvements—because Telford deserves better.
  • I stood up in Parliament to speak on the role of magistrates and called for better support for our local justice system—an area that’s often overlooked but vital to community safety and fairness.
  • I’ve written to the Department for Transport about the need for a stronger Telford–London rail connection—something that could make a big difference to local jobs, business, and travel.
  • I’ve also written to the Department for Education with feedback from our local schools about the rollout of breakfast clubs—another small step towards giving every child a better start.

I’ll always stand up for Telford and fight for the issues that matter to you. A huge thank you to everyone who’s been in touch.
