I am very sorry to hear of the passing of former Councillor and Honorary Alderman of the Borough of Telford and Wrekin, Keith Austin.
Keith dedicated decades of his life to public service, from his time in the RAF and continuing through a long career in local government. He served as council leader, a elected Councillor and a Magistrate, and played a leading role in fire governance. He represented Telford and Wrekin locally, regionally and nationally. Keith’s commitment to our community was recognised in May 2022 when he was awarded the title of Honorary Alderman, the highest possible honour a local council can bestow.
Telford and Wrekin were lucky to have someone so dedicated, who made a real and lasting difference to our town but above all, those who knew and worked alongside Keith will remember his kindness and warmth. My thoughts are with Keith’s family and friends at this sad time.
Rest in Peace, Keith.
