MP for Telford, Shaun Davies, is calling on residents and local businesses to once again get behind his Easter Egg appeal, with the aim of gifting an Easter Egg to every looked-after child in Telford for the second year running.
Last year, thanks to the generosity of the Telford community, every child in care across Telford received an Easter Egg. The initiative brought together individuals, community groups and businesses who were determined to make sure no child felt forgotten at Easter and 350 eggs were donated in total.
Now, the appeal is back for 2026, with hopes of repeating that success
Local residents are invited once to donate an Easter Egg, and businesses and organisations are encouraged to also support the campaign by volunteering as drop-off points to help collect donations.
Telford’s MP, Shaun Davies, said: “Last year really showed what Telford is all about. People were so kind and generous, and because of that we made sure every looked-after child got an Easter Egg. It might seem like a small thing, but it means a lot for a child to know someone’s thinking of them. I’d love us to do the same again this year. If you can donate an egg, or help by offering a place where people can drop them off, it would make a real difference.”
Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Education, Employment & Skills said: “The kindness shown by people across Telford makes a real difference to the lives of our children in care. We’re incredibly thankful to Shaun and everyone who supports this appeal and helps create special moments for our young people.”
Local business Sweetcheeks on Dawley High Street has once again kindly offered to act as a collection point for donations.
Anyone wishing to get involved, whether by donating, offering a drop-off location, or finding out more is encouraged to email: shaun.davies.mp@parliament.uk
By working together, the Telford community can help make Easter brighter for local children in care.
