The second event in the Telford Dining Club series announced this week is an exclusive evening with local boxing star Liam Davies which will take place in July at The Brewery Inn, Coalport.

Telford’s MP Shaun Davies has launched Telford Dining Club to showcase the town’s hospitality sector, bring people together from across the region and raise funds for Telford’s charitable causes.

The inaugural event was held in March at Restaurant 1840 on Stirchley Lane, where guests enjoyed a delicious meal, heard from Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson MP, educational leaders and Shaun Davies MP. The evening also raised funds for local charity Parents Opening Doors (PODS).

Following the success of the first event, Shaun is now inviting people to join him at The Brewery Inn for a special evening with Liam Davies which will celebrate Liam’s achievements and support him ahead of his next major fight, while also raising funds for the Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal. Attendees will enjoy a live interview with Liam conducted by a leading journalist, hear stories from his career, and have the opportunity to meet him in person. The event follows Shaun Davies MP’s recent announcement that he is personally sponsoring Liam Davies, recognising the positive example he sets for young people.

Shaun Davies MP said: “I have been a long-standing admirer of Liam and everything he has achieved for Telford. He, like me, is Telford born and bred, and I know just how much hard work Liam puts in behind the scenes. He’s doing our town proud, and it is a privilege to be partnering with him to show Telford’s young people just what they can achieve.

“Telford Dining Club is about bringing together some of the very best places to eat and drink in Telford, local people, and special guests like Liam, while raising money for important local causes in our town. Our first event with Jelly and the team at Restaurant 1840 was a great success so it’s brilliant to support another another local venue and of course some amazing charities here in Telford. The added bonus is that guests attending will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for Liam Davies’ next major boxing event before they go on general sale!”

Boxing star, Liam Davies said “Thanks to Shaun for putting this event together. It’s an exciting time for me at the moment as I am focused on my training and preparation. It’ll be great to spend an evening with people who want to hear more about my journey, both as a local lad from Telford and as a professional boxer. Telford is my home and it has a special place in my heart. I’m proud to represent the town and I want to keep achieving big things that people here can be proud of.”

Ben and George, owners of The Brewery Inn, commented “We’re really proud to be hosting this event at The Brewery Inn. It’ll be great to see plenty of familiar faces, as well as welcome some new ones through the door. Liam is a fantastic ambassador for Telford, and it’s not every day you get the chance to hear first-hand about his journey and achievements. The fact that we’re also raising money for the Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal makes it even more special. It promises to be a brilliant evening for the local community, and we’re delighted to be playing a part in it.”

The first Telford Dining Club event back in March raised money for PODS. Jayne Stevens, PODs Strategic Lead added: “Thank you so much for raising £350 for PODS charity. Your efforts will make a significant difference in our ability to provide essential support to the families we work with. We truly appreciate your generosity and commitment to helping us continue this important work.”

Ticket numbers for the event are limited, and early booking is strongly encouraged. Tickets can be purchased here.

No taxpayer money is involved in Shaun Davies MP’s sponsorship of Liam Davies.
