Telford residents, businesses, and organisations have come together to donate over 900 Easter Egg for looked-after children in Telford this Easter, following an appeal from Shaun Davies MP for Telford.
500 Easter Eggs were delivered yesterday morning (Monday 30th March 2026) by Shaun Davies and will now be distributed to children in care by Telford & Wrekin Council’s Lived Experience Apprentices. The remaining Easter Eggs will be delivered to the women’s and children’s unit at the Princess Royal Hospital, and to Young Carers from Telford and Wrekin’s CVS, this Easter.
Shaun said: “I’ve been absolutely blown away by the kindness and generosity shown by the people of Telford, but I am never surprised what we can achieve together. I am delighted that so many people across Telford thought this was a cracking idea!
“This is the second year I’ve run this appeal, and we have smashed what we did last year. Once again it has been a true community-wide effort. Local businesses, large and small from Telford-based defence giant RBSL to Dawley High Street’s Sweetcheeks, and even our amazing Telford firefighters got involved too by dropping off their donations in their fire engine. Plus, our community groups, organisations and companies have all shown incredible support.
“Of course, none of this would have been possible without the amazing residents who dropped off donations across our community. Thank you, Telford.”
Last week in Parliament, Shaun also praised the efforts of Telford, highlighting the partners who went above and beyond to support his Easter Egg Appeal, and calling for a debate on the corporate parenting principle in a bid to do more to support looked after children across Telford and beyond.
Sir Alan Campbell, Leader of the House of Commons, praised the Telford community for rallying behind the project and coming together to support young people. He also wished everyone a Happy Easter, extending his warmest wishes to cared-for children in Telford and across the UK.
Councillor Shirley Reynolds, Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Children, added: “The kindness shown by people across Telford makes a real difference to the lives of our children in care. We’re incredibly thankful to Shaun and everyone who supports this appeal and helps create special moments for our young people.”
Sophie Williams and Katie Walmsley of Sweetcheeks Salons said: “As a local business, we are deeply rooted in our community, and we firmly believe that the success of our salon is built on the trust and loyalty of the people around us. That is why giving back is not just something we do, it is something we value at our core. We are especially passionate about supporting children in local care. Every child deserves to feel valued, cared for, and included, and to experience the same kindness, treats, and opportunities as any other child.
“We are always eager to take part in community events that bring people together and make a positive difference. Whether big or small, these moments help strengthen the bonds within our community and remind us of the power of collective support.
“We also encourage other individuals, businesses, and organisations alike to join us in supporting these initiatives. When we come together, we can create meaningful change and ensure that no one feels overlooked. Thank you again for recognising the importance of community spirit. We are proud to stand alongside Shaun in supporting it.”
Liam, a Lived Experience Apprentice at Telford and Wrekin Council, said “I’m Liam, a care‑experienced apprentice working in Children’s Services and I want to say an enormous thank you to Shaun Davies and all the businesses who supported this year’s Easter Egg Appeal and for once again donating so many Easter eggs for children in care. It means more than people realise when someone thinks about children in care and wants to do something kind for them. Your support will bring smiles this Easter, and that really matters.”
13 businesses and organisations supported Shaun’s appeal including Housing Plus Group, GN Groundwork, RBSL, Tesco in Madeley and Sainsbury’s store in Telford, TCMR radio, Sweetcheeks in Dawley, Dawley Social Club, Outpost Café in Oakengates, Coforge, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, Dharm Shropshire CIC and Open Harmony.
