Shaun Davies, member of Parliament for Telford, invited students from three different Telford Primary schools; Meadows Primary, Woodlands Primary and William Reynolds.

The day involved a tour of the House of Commons and House of Lords, learning how the Parliamentary system works and exploring the deep history behind it. The children also took the chance to visit Big Ben, Downing Street and other London sites.

Shaun commented “One of the most rewarding parts of my role as Telford’s MP is getting young people from our town down to Westminster so they can experience it firsthand. I will never forget my first trip to Parliament at the age of 11, and I am proud to provide that same experience for the next generation.”

Many of them expressed to their teachers their ambitions to enter into political careers, off the back of this visit – a brilliant reminder that the future is bright for Telford’s young people.”

Headteacher of Meadows Primary, Joseph Piatczanyn commented “The experience was truly memorable. It was an immersive experience that provided as a it was a powerful moment of recognition, inspiration and possibility.”

“Many of the children spoke of how the experience broadened their horizons and made them feel that spaces such as Parliament were places where they too could belong. The impact of this opportunity will be long-lasting, and deeply valued by all who took part.”
