Fighting for Better SEND Support for Telford Families
For too many families across Telford, accessing the support their children need through the SEND system has become an exhausting battle. Shaun Davies MP has heard these concerns time and time again from parents, carers, teachers and young people in Telford. Their experiences have reinforced a simple truth: the current SEND system is not working as it should.
Shaun is determined to ensure that the voices of Telford families are heard. By listening to residents, supporting individual cases and taking their concerns directly to Government, he is working to secure both immediate support for families and long-term reform of the SEND system.
Among those he has supported are Shaun and Jodie, who struggled to access the help their daughter needed. By taking up their case and pushing for change, Shaun helped highlight the challenges faced by many families across Telford. Their story demonstrates why fixing our broken SEND system remains such an important priority.
Shaun’s work to support fixing the broken SEND system
- Shaun hosted a SEND roundtable in Telford in November 2025 with Telford & Wrekin Council and Parents Opening Doors to discuss local challenges and shape recommendations ahead of the Government’s SEND White Paper.
- Shaun then invited Telford families to meet him at The Exotic Zoo in February 2026 to hear first-hand about the difficulties many face accessing SEND support, including delays to assessments, EHCP challenges and inconsistent provision.
- Telford’s concerns have been taken directly to the Government, working closely with Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson, Shaun secured a visit to Telford in March 2026 to discuss local SEND provision and review the findings of Telford’s SEND report.
