To mark two years as Telford’s Member of Parliament, Shaun Davies is inviting Telford constituents to his next community event, ‘Tea in the Park’, with Katcha Latte, the new coffee hut in Dawley Memorial Park, on Saturday 25th July from 11am to 1pm in partnership with Great Dawley Town Council.
By hosting the event at one of Dawley’s newest independent businesses, Shaun hopes to support the local business while giving residents the chance to come along, say hello, enjoy a coffee and chat about the issues that matter most to them in one of Telford’s Green Flag parks.
Shaun will be joined by Telford Police, Telford & Wrekin CVS, Citizens Advice, Telford Mind and many other local organisations giving residents the opportunity to meet their MP, access advice and support, and help shape Shaun’s priorities for Telford. No booking is required, but you must live in the Telford constituency due to parliamentary rules: Find your MP – MPs and Lords – UK Parliament
“Too many families are still struggling – my focus is getting Telford the support we deserve”
The event comes as Shaun marks two years since being elected as Telford’s MP on 4 July 2024. In that time, he has supported over 11,000 constituents, more than any other Telford MP over the same period, helping local people with issues including housing, healthcare, pensions, education and anti-social behaviour, as well as helping residents and businesses recover more than £350,000 in lost income.
Over the last 12 months, Shaun has also made supporting Telford’s communities a key priority, using his role as MP to champion grassroots organisations including Dawley Town Football Club and Telford Rugby Club. He is also proud to sponsor local professional boxer Liam Davies, helped secure £4,000 in community funding for Telford Flyers, and has raised more than £25,000 for local charities including the Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal. His commitment to supporting local causes continues, with his biggest challenge yet (a 10,000-foot charity skydive) planned for later this summer.
Shaun said: “The most important part of being an MP is listening to local people, understanding the challenges they face and then fighting to get things done. That means being there for residents when they need support, but also standing up for Telford’s future. I’m proud to have helped more than 11,000 constituents over the last two years, but I know there is much more work to do and more to get right. Too many families are still feeling the pressure of rising costs, too many people are waiting too long for services, and too many parts of our town still need greater investment.
“My focus is simple: making sure Telford has a stronger voice in Westminster and securing the investment our town deserves. I will keep fighting for better transport links, stronger public services, safer communities, improved healthcare and more opportunities for our young people.”
Mirelle from Lawley praised Shaun after he helped resolve a long-running issue that had prevented their family from buying their council home. “From the very first moment, the difference was night and day. Shaun didn’t just ‘take a note’ of the issue he took action. Throughout the entire process, he kept me constantly in the loop, providing regular updates on his communications with the relevant bodies and authorities. I never had to wonder what was happening; Shaun was right there in the trenches for us.”
Shaun recently supported a local athletics club that was looking for new premises to ensure they could continue providing coaching opportunities for young people in the community. He worked closely with the club to help identify a suitable space and support them in securing the facilities they needed to continue their important work.
Rachel from Cheer Athletics in Telford said: “We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Shaun for his support when we reached out after our previous premises were no longer fit for purpose. Supporting young people in Telford is at the heart of what we do, and Shaun recognised the urgency of our situation, making it a priority to help us secure a new location. We are incredibly excited to be here and to continue growing and developing our coaching for the community.”
