Telford College has secured £4.7 million in Government funding to develop a £5.6 million, state-of-the-art engineering centre that will equip students with the advanced technical skills needed for the industries of the future. The new Industrial Technology Training Centre will also benefit from a £925,000 investment by Telford College, creating a world-class facility dedicated to engineering and advanced technology training.

From our proud manufacturing and engineering heritage to the innovative businesses creating jobs here today, these industries are the backbone of our local economy. Following recent investment in defence training, this new engineering centre will give even more local people the opportunity to gain the skills that employers in Telford are crying out for.
“Like the Prime Minister, I believe that someone wearing a hard hat deserves exactly the same respect as someone wearing a cap and gown.
“It’s also part of a really exciting time for education in our town. With the new Telford Sixth opening in the heart of the town in just a few weeks, we’re seeing real investment in the future of young people across Telford. Together, these projects will ensure that wherever you grow up in our town, you can access an excellent education, develop the skills employers need and build a successful future close to home.
“My message to every young person in Telford is simple: don’t put a ceiling on your ambitions. Right here in our town we have some of the best primary schools in the country, with 98% rated Good or Outstanding, modern secondary schools that have been rebuilt, refurbished or expanded, and now millions of pounds of investment in Telford College, with more good news to come. Your future doesn’t begin somewhere else. It can begin right here in Telford, so dream big, work hard and reach for the stars.”
