Shaun Davies MP calls for Telford Post Office replacement to be prioritised

Telford’s MP is calling on the Post Office to urgently set out its plans for a replacement branch in Telford town centre, following news that TG Jones is set to close.

Shaun has contacted the Post Office directly to seek clarity on the timetable for the closure and what arrangements are being made to ensure residents continue to have access to Post Office services in the town centre. The current branch provides an important local service for residents, including older people and those who rely on the Post Office for essential services.

Shaun has asked the Post Office to confirm:

  • The timetable for the closure of the current branch.
  • What progress is being made towards finding and opening a replacement Post Office in Telford town centre.
  • What alternative arrangements or temporary services will be available to residents during the transition.
  • How long residents can expect any gap between the current branch closing and a replacement service opening to last.

Shaun said: “The Post Office is an important service for people across Telford, and I understand the concerns residents have raised with me about the closure of the current branch. I have contacted the Post Office directly to ask for clear answers about what happens next, including when the current branch will close and what plans are being made for a replacement service in Telford town centre. If there is going to be a gap between the existing branch closing and a new service opening, I want that gap to be kept as short as possible. Residents should also have clear information about what alternative arrangements will be available in the meantime. I will continue to press the Post Office for regular updates and will make sure residents are kept informed as more information becomes available.”

The MP is also encouraging residents who are concerned about the closure or how it could affect them to share their views and experiences, so these concerns can be raised directly with the Post Office – https://shaundavies.org/post-office-petition/
