Free bus transport will be available to help people attend the Telford Jobs and Futures Fair on Friday 6th November, giving local people easier access to jobs, apprenticeships, training and career advice.

On the day buses will run from right across Telford at the below locations between 9.30am and 3.30pm. More details can be found at: telfordjobs.shaundavies.org/#transport

Bus stop locations include:

  • Oakengates Bus Station
  • Ketley Community Centre
  • Teagues Crescent (opposite the Co-op in Trench)
  • Telford town centre
  • Randlay and Stirchley (Grange Avenue)
  • Brookside Community Centre
  • Park Lane Centre
  • Hub on the Hill

Hosted by Telford MP Shaun Davies in partnership with Telford College and the Pride in Place programme, the event will take place at The Anstice in Madeley from 10am to 2.30pm, bringing together local employers, training providers and support organisations to connect people with new opportunities.

The event is open to people across Telford whether they are looking for their first job, considering an apprenticeship, exploring further training or thinking about a change in career. Visitors will have the chance to speak directly to employers, find out about current vacancies and discover the skills and qualifications needed to take their next step.

The availability of free bus transport will help people get to the event and make the most of the opportunities on offer, removing a potential barrier for those who might otherwise find it difficult to attend.

The fair will offer visitors the opportunity to:

  • Meet local employers and find out about current job vacancies.
  • Discover apprenticeships, training and work-based learning opportunities.
  • Get practical careers advice and guidance on entering the workplace.
  • Speak directly to businesses about career paths and the skills they are looking for.
  • Find out about support available to help them move into employment or further training.

Shaun Davies MP said: “Getting people into good jobs, apprenticeships and training is vital to the future of Telford. I want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to attend our Jobs and Futures Fair and explore what’s available to them. Free bus transport will help remove the cost of travel as a barrier, making it easier for local people to attend, meet employers and discover opportunities. Whether you’re looking for your first job, considering an apprenticeship or thinking about a career change, I’d encourage you to come along and take that next step. I’m grateful to Telford College and Pride in Place for their support in making this event possible and helping local people access new opportunities.”

Sarah Davies, Executive Director of Employer Engagement and Partnerships at Telford College, said: “We speak to employers regularly and many tell us they can’t find people with the skills they need. The Jobs and Futures Fair gives young people the chance to meet businesses that are recruiting now, and many are happy to train the right person.

“In the longer term, tackling youth unemployment means training young people for the jobs that exist here. That’s why we work in partnership with local businesses to shape our courses, and why our Business Solutions team helps companies take on apprentices. We’re proud to sponsor the fair and our team will be there on the day, so come and talk to us.”

Revd Prebendary Jo Farnworth, Independent Chair of South Telford Pride in Place, added: “Having access to the right job, training or apprenticeship can make a real difference to people’s lives, giving them a sense of purpose, fulfilment and wellbeing.

“Pride in Place is delighted to support this Jobs Fair, helping young people from Woodside, Brookside and Sutton Hill connect with employment, apprenticeships, training and education opportunities. It will also support local businesses with their recruitment needs, raise awareness of skills pathways and help strengthen the local economy.

“Ultimately, this is about creating opportunities that work for local people, enabling them to shape a stronger, more prosperous future for their communities.”
